ZingPinMe is a group of 5 loveable colourful characters. You can tell a ZingPinMe by their springs on their heads. Each character struggles with their emotions, mirroring a child's own emotions and the struggles they present. ZingPinMe allows children to examine their emotions through play, reading stories and interacting with a variety of creative tools and strategies designed to deal with unwanted emotions. Children can learn about themselves and how to solve a variety of simple and complex issues they face each day.
ZingPinMe aims to help children not only with emotions such as anger, sadness, jealousy, fear but also with issues such as bedwetting, bullying, internet safety, issues with family breakup, grief and much more.
ZingPinMe is unique in it's approach. These little characters are cute and handcrafted by their creator. They are loveable and are on their own journey and are constantly evolving with the times. A number of resources come equipped with an MP3 file which alleviates the need for parents to be hands on for children not yet able to read. This is ideal for larger families and busy families.
The name comes from "Zing" meaning life, "Pin" relating to the modern day child who is pinning and posting milestones of life and "Me" relating to the individual.
Evidence Based Practice (for disorders such as anxiety and depression)
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) aimed at teaching children to identify and regulate their emotions is the gold standard for treating anxiety and depression in children. However, when working with children it is essential that these skills are delivered in a developmentally appropriate way. Play therapy techniques and parenting skills training are highly valuable in ensuring children are engaged and understanding skills, and parents have the knowledge to reinforce coping at home. There are specific treatment components to give skills to families and teachers in order to maximise positive treatment gains. Both individual and group formats have proven to be effective, with the key target of normalisation, rather than stigmatisation, being emphasised in both formats.
Key targets for CBT treatments should include: increasing self-awareness; promoting empathy skills; relaxation skills and self-management training; mindfulness and attention training; challenging and replacing unhelpful thinking; increasing positive coping role models and support networks; building step plans and exposure exercises; problem-solving skills training; friendship skills; and maintenance and generalisation of skills.

ZingPinMe was created by Carolyn Seri, an experienced child psychologist located in sunny Townsville, Queensland, Australia. ZingPinMe was created as Carolyn was forever creating resources with children that showed great results and she wanted a way to compile all her ideas so she could reach a wider audience and help many more children. The concept for the ZingPinMe characters were from the imagination of Carolyn's 8 year old daughter, Violet and Violet's grandmother which they have used together over the years to help Violet deal with her own emotions.
